It’s a marvelous thing to consider, that the great Creator of all things, He who made the beautiful flowers in which we take such great delight, the plants in the garden which produce tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash, the towering trees which stand as sentinels, and with outstretched arms, provide a place for little birds to perch, that this same Being who created all the earth and all things upon the face of it, would know my name, love me, an hear the humble, imperfect prayer of someone so insignificant as I.

As wonderful as this may seem, I know it is true. John, the apostle, teaches that, “. . .this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)

Because prayer is such a wonderful gift and privilege, it is something I never want to take it lightly. Each day, I go to a special, sacred place to connect with God. There is a place in my home I often return to for that reason, but the place where I find that connection cannot be seen with mortal eyes. It is a spiritual place found deep within my soul. I return to this place again and again to feel God’s presence and partake of His Spirit. It is here where I receive His comfort, His guidance, His strength, and His reassurance that I am His.

Where We Meet
by Christi Pauline

Yet unseen,
There is a place,
Far from the world’s unsettling care.
There I am,
With my Lord,
It is where we meet.
I am consoled there,
And given strength,
And sent again,
On my way,
To face the world,
Unafraid.

Another marvel is that we can access this sacred place any time of the day or night, no matter where we are or what we are doing, and that the God whom we love, and who loves us, stands ever ready to receive our prayers. This is delightfully illustrated in a poem by Ranae Pearson. . .

My Sacred Place
by Ranae Pearson

I have my own
Sacred place.
I found it
While kneeling here,
Alone,
In the basement.
I would have liked
Lush green grass
Beneath my knees,
And,
I would have loved
To have heard
Birds singing
Instead
Of the constant
Rumblings of
The old freezer.
But,
Somehow the Spirit
Didn’t seem to care
Whether I was kneeling
Near cement walls or
Quaking Aspen trees.
I needed
Spiritual guidance.
I needed answers. . .
And I received them
Right here,
Across the room from
The canned fruit
Near the washing machine.

Today, as you spend time in your own sacred place, I hope you will receive of God what you seek.
